People’s ability of creating new things has always impassioned and intrigued me. My name is Yuliana Guédez Forgiarini. When I was little, I dreamt of becoming a painter, and now, years later, my passion has transformed towards Fine Art Photography; without forgetting the drawing lines that came before it. All of this has been an escape to me from the hardships in my home country, Venezuela. My biggest interest lies in communicating deep concepts, always with an emphasis on human beings. Thus, I am always eager to investigate any social, cultural and artistic manifestations.

I am a student of the shapes of life, in a career as a graphic designer that develops further away. Naufragia expresses in a metaphorical way each one of my adventures… We are all navigating our lives in a voyage, lost in the ocean. Many souls lie down in the sea like forgotten ships, with great treasures inside them. Mirrors and reflections, nature, identity, the sky, the sea, wandering, challenges and beauty are my themes of choice: My aim is to make you think and feel deeper and further: To allow you to find yourself by exploring philosophy and art, specially photography.

The name Naufragia comes from the plural of ‘shipwreck’ in Latin, signifying wandering and getting through hardships. It is additionally used to call a species of salamander named Eurycea Naufragia, also known as Georgetown Salamander; which is an endangered species. Therefore, the symbol, a compass accompanying the logo showcases the Ouroboros, an ancient symbol that displays a snake, or other creature alike, eating its own tail. This represents a vision in concordance to Heraclitus, in which we are eternally living in cycles, trying to find something, someone… maybe ourselves.

I love traveling and getting to know new cultures. Philosophy, I believe, is what we were all passionate about when we were kids, but growing up we have forgotten; which is why I’m so interested on it. Through philosophy, writing and art, I want to help you to develop critical thinking, in order to think of ways on how we could build a better society, by discovering ourselves along the road. I am a curious observer, my creativity is born from self-observation and also from observing the world we live in.

My ways are summarized in doing each project with passionI will always look for a creative solution, because persistently I’ll want to innovate outside of my comfort zone. My mission is to portray the soul, be it on commissioned projects or self-directed projects, always aiming to cause introspection in you, my audience. I hope we can both learn from this adventure.
